Who Is This Guy?

I've been an outdoor writer and editor for nearly four decades. Raised on an upstate New York farm, I grew up hunting, fishing and trapping. Although I majored in Business, my minor was in Journalism, and that proved to be a blessing in disguise. My initial profession as a businessman and investment broker paid the bills , but my love of the outdoors drew me there at every chance and eventually motivated me to begin writing about my experiences there. Many of my features were published in major outdoor magazines and this led to me becoming the outdoor editor for the Norwich (NY) Evening Sun, a position I still hold today.

During his career, McNitt has also been an editor for Northwoods Publishing, Petersen Publishing, emap-usa and Primedia. He's past president of the New York State Outdoor Writers Association, Inc., charter member of the Professional Outdoor Media Association, Inc. and an inductee of the New York State Outdoorsman Hall of Fame. McNitt is currently also contributing editor for Jordan Outdoor Enterprises, Ltd (Realtree Camo). McNitt and his wife Betty live in Norwich, N. Y.
